Darts Maths in the Teacher Training System

Our Darts Maths program has been registered in the National University of Public Service’ Teacher Training catalog for the 2025/2026 school year as a mandatory content-renewal training (registration number: A/13603/2025).
The training will begin in September 2025.

Below is a brief overview of the teacher training program, its goals, and structure. A detailed description can be found at this link.

The training is free, conducted online in an e-learning format, and does not require in-person attendance. Upon completion, participants will earn 30 credit points.

Main Challenges in Modern Math Education
How can we make mathematical concepts understandable, practical, and motivating for students? Traditional math instruction often focuses on operations without helping students uncover the deeper relationships between numbers. This training equips teachers to introduce tasks that go beyond basic arithmetic—even for first-grade students. Teachers will learn about an innovative, experience-based educational framework that fosters problem-solving strategies, logical reasoning, and creative solutions.

Participants will also explore scientific principles and methodologies that demonstrate how experiential learning enhances both the acquisition and long-term retention of math skills.

Training Goals
The goal of this program is to expand math teachers’ and instructors’ professional toolkits, focusing on basic operations and combinatorial thinking through darts-based calculations. The training provides both theoretical and practical knowledge on the pedagogical value of combinatorial thinking and the deeper connections between mathematical concepts (e.g., linking fractions, ratios, and probability through a combinatorial approach).

A special emphasis will be placed on developing this complex way of thinking from an early age. The training also introduces key psychological models relevant to Darts Maths (e.g., theories by Jean Piaget and Howard Gardner) and aims to enhance teachers’ digital skills.

Our future plans include expanding the training to support teachers in working with children who have learning difficulties and integrating the Darts Maths program into other subject areas.
